Spunkyclub – eclectic jam

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

I finished spinning up the eclectic jam that was the latest fiber from Spunky Fiberclub. I loved the colors of the roving, and decided to spin it as a 2 ply, going for a lace yarn. After soaking it plumped up a bit, and came out as a fingereing. I still love it :)

279 meters, 84 grams of fingering weight BFL/silk (80/20).

Samplespinning

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

A few weeks ago I got a package in the mail from Tante Ull. A lovely needlebag and a sample of CrownMountainFarms polwarth fiber. I have spun the fiber up and I really like the finished yarn even if it is a little underplied someplaces. It spun up nicely on my Bosworth minispindle and I plied it on my Jenkins Turkish spindle.

I have also set the twist on the yarn I spun on my dropspindle during the knittingweekend. Lovely merino, and I LOVE it!

Border Collie yarn

Monday, August 30th, 2010

I got a bag of fur that was brushed of my FILs Border Collie, Kira.  And I spun it up to a nice sample yarn. After washing it came out really nice!

I only had a pic of her head, but at least it is a pic of her :)

I finished shipping my first Spunky fiber and I am very happy with the result I got :)

I divided the roving into fingerthick strips and then divided the strips into 3 equal parts and spun 3 singles.

3 ply DK weight and a  200 meters :) The fiber is a wool blend.

Leonberger

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

When we were at Camp pluckyfluff in May, someone had put some fibers from their Loenberger on the sharingtable. I grabbed a handpul and took it with me home. It is not much, but it came out as a nice yarn I think.

TDF – Day 4

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

So, day 4 is over and I am really happy that Thor Hushovd won todays race in Tour de France!

I on the other hand, have also won todays race… my own race that is *lol*

I finished plying the silk, and I actally attempted to do an andean ply for the first time ever! And due to that I have a “note to self”: Do NOT attempt andean plying for the first time with really thin silk singles…. you will get tangles… and screw the whole thing up!

The finihed yarn is 107 meters of laceweight.

I also started to spin some “dog-wool” from a Bernese Montain dog.

Vulcano yarn!

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

The second theme for May at Spinnershome.net was Iceland… and with the recent vulcanic activity that caused lots of problems due to the ash I went with spinning a ash and lava yarn. The grey is Spæl and the redish wool is Montadale.

Springthing

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

One of the topics for april at Spinners home in april (I know I am sooo behind!) was the Spring-feeling. I came up with this yarn with anemone nemorosas and anemone hepaticas. The wool is Tunis that I dyed myself.

Candycoils

Monday, June 7th, 2010

One of the themes for may over at Spinnershome.net was fairytales… I thought of Hansel and Gretel and came up with this candyyarn. The wool is actually dyed with Kool Aid som it smells like candy too. I Went for big coils on this, and the one thing I miss on my wheel (Louet s10dt) is a big big orifice.
