A Handspun Transformation.

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

In my latets post on this project I wrote: What will it be? A cowl? A felted purse? I got a few comments on it and Synnøve said it could very well be a sweater, I hadent even thought about that, and I tried the tube on and this will be a sweater made from the odds and ends of my handspun. I have just separated for the front and back. I love the colorfulness of this!!!! It might look horrible, but I just dont care, I am not afraid to stick out in a crowd :-)

More crochet.

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

A while ago I started a blanket from scarp sockyarn that are selfstriping or multicolored. Simple dcs every row. It wont be pretty, but at least it will be very colorful when it is done ( sometime in the future….).

I really can crochet….

Friday, October 24th, 2008

but it seems like a million years between the crochet projects I make. Now I actually have gotten around to start my Sweety sweet pea from the Veggiegang. This kit  contains everything you need to make this including a crochethook.
The crochethook is 1,5 mm and the yarn is much thicker, so I had to go up to a 2,5 mm hook because I crochet very tight.

Now where that walrus???

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I think he is hiding in the waves just showing up after a drink or two :-)

I think these will be a FO real soon!

Handspun scarf 2

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

And here is the Toatally loaded scarf, I love how this came out. Again simple garterstitch over 15 stitches on 10 mm needles until I ran out of yarn.

Handspun scarf 1.

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Here is the handspun Minty Fresh scarf all finished and ready for use. I am pretty happy with this. Knitted on 15 mm needles and is just garterstitch over 10 stitches until I had no more yarn left.

Spinning seawool part 2.

Monday, October 20th, 2008

I have a real yarn from the Seawool I spun, it came out so much better than I ever imagined! I love this yarn, the shine, the softness and the colors!

112 grams and 265,5 yards of worsted weight.

Washing fleece.

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Remember the fleeces I got a while ago? I have started cleaning out the lanolin and dirt from some of the brown fleece.

After the first soak the water was really nasty to look at, I think I got most of the lanolin out in that first soak! After a tip I got I bought a saladspinner and it works perfectly for washing pieces of fleece!!!

After the second soak the water was much lighter

After the third soak I was pretty happy  and let the wool to dry overnight.

Now I have dry and clean wool…but no cardes yet. I am hoping to get some money for my birthday next month so I can by a set of handcards or a small drumcarder.

A turkish walrus !?!….

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

This is my bonussocks for october, I fell in love with the name Turkish walrus (ravelry link)and look of them. I just knew I had to make these even if I suck at twocolor knitting. The three colors are Arwetta scrapyarn from previous monthlysocks in Sokker 2008.

Flutter-by socks

Friday, October 17th, 2008

I have finished my Flutter-by socks for october.

Stats:

Pattern: Flutter-by socks

Yarn: Regian canadian color

Needles: 3 mm dpns

Modifications: I had to use two yos before the slipped stitches to get them loose enough, and I skipped the pattern on the instep.

Attracted to bright colors.

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

I seem to have developed an attraction to really bright colors this last year or so. Before I was pretty narrow in my colorselections but I see that I am picking more daring colors. I did the Kauni rainbow Seraphim, and the yellow Evillayarn Juno and now I am knitting the Shetland Triangle in really bright blue wool lace from Handpaintedyarn.com

Socks for October

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

I have started and are halfway on my socks for october in Sokker 2008. It is the Flutter-by socks. I really like the pattern, but it is a PITA to knit because I am a really tight knitter. I have knit and ripped several times to find the best way to do them. I got a tip on having a yo before the slipped stitches… I had to use 2 yos to get it looking pretty decent. Sine I wasnt happy I decided just to have the legpart in pattern and the rest of the foot in stockinette.

The bonussocks is using scarpyarn from other knitted socks this time and I are going to use these 3 colors of arwetta for mine.

Spinning seawool.

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

After spinning up the Butterscotch sunrise and the silky fiber I just had to start on spinning up a new fiber. I decided on the Seawool.

I dont know if it is the seacell or the superwash that does it (probably the superwash) but this fiber has a pearly look when spun up. It is also very easy and nice to spin!

More handspun!

Monday, October 13th, 2008

I have another handspun done too. This is 1 ply soysilk and 1 ply seacell/silk bought at Dying for color. I learned alot by spinning up these. The soysilk is a very irritating fiber…almost like thinthinacrylicthread from fabric that sticks to EVERYTHING it touches. It also needs alot of twist to stay together and if you are going to ply it you have to have even more twist than you think. The seacell/silk was more pleasant to spin even if it had some similar qualities, but at least it didnt stick to everything all the time.

She is 82 grams, 110 yards of worstedweight.

Handspun odds and ends

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

I decided to knit up my handspun odds and ends that ra ein worstedweight or so. What will it be? A cowl? A felted purse? I dont know yet, bt it is nice to see how these merino odds and ends work up. Some are made on my dropspindles and some on my wheel.
